June-July 2004: Support for ASP Donated computers

In June, HDP started contacting schools and organizations who have received computers through the Armenian Support Project (ASP). Many of those receiving computers do not have the resources to provide all the needed maintenance for their computers.
ASP continues to provide computers for schools who otherwise would not have the opportunity to have them. Schools need to apply using an ASP Form (available in English and in Armenian) and sending it to ASP computers. more...

June, VOCA volunteer

Jim Kennard, President of the "Food For Everyone" Foundation (FFE) in the US, volunteered to come to Armenia, with helping VOCA, to help Armenian families with small plots of land achieve food security by increasing their capacity to produce adequate healthy food to eat, and to ultimately provide a source of income from sales of excess garden produce. He also volunteered training a family in seedling production at an existing seedling greenhouse in the Shirak region, and provide seedlings for beneficiary families, and training 64 beneficiary families in 8 villages on how to most effectively grow high yields of vegetables using the world-renowned Mittleider Method of gardening. more...

Sorting Vegetable Seeds for Needy Families, February-March, 2004

The needy families of Armenia need vegetable seeds. About 18 tons arrived as a donation, but they were all mixed together. HDP organized over 30 volunteers to help UMCOR sort the seeds in a cold warehouse in February and March. As soon as the weather warms, seeds need to be planted in order for the needy families to get as much benefit as possible from the seeds. more...

October 2003: Hygiene Kits and Blankets to Special Institutions and Kindergartens

Following the May distribution to several special institutions, Dignity, in collaboration with UMCOR and in response to continuing needs, provided second round of hygiene kits and blankets to different partner organizations, such as Prkuyiun, several kindergartens in Gumri and Artik area, Gavar Boarding School, etc. Those items will ensure a warmer and more comfortable winter for these elderly and children. more...

September 2003: Computers for Education

Dignity values education of children of Armenia and supports those entities that work with children. Teamed up with the Armenian Support Project Dignity distributed four sets of computers for Gumri Anania Shirakatsi school. September 2003: School Uniforms for Street Children

Gumri Street Children Program is dedicated to support extremely poor children, who fight for daily bread, dig in garbage for food and other items. The organization started small hoping one day to reach out to all who need help. Dignity provided school uniforms, school supplies, shoes and other items of clothing necessary for school. Without that support 35 impoverished children would not be able to make it to school. In addition, in cooperation with UMCOR, Dignity provided two sets of computers to help the organization start computer literacy among children. more...

April-September 2003 Garden Vegetable Seed Distribution

A ton of vegetable seeds were donated to Dignity to be distributed to needy families in Armenia. The seeds gave some comfort and food security to over 1,600 families and several special institutions, orphanages, nursing homes and indigenous NGOs.
Each family received approximately $165 worth of vegetable, herb and flower seeds. Local organizations planted the seeds in their gardens and used them to feed their beneficiary children. more...

August - September 2003: Food Supply to Local Organizations

In partnership with ARDA, Dignity supported several local organizations receive approximately one ton of raisins, dry fruit and beans that would last about a year. May 2003: Tuition for Medical School

One reader of this web site offered $200 to help with the tuition of Hayastani's granddaughter. Today President David Watt was visiting Gyumri to deliver vegetable seeds, blankets, hygiene kits to the nursing house and kindergardens. As he was leaving the Charity Kindergarten he saw Hayastani. He had not been able to find her earlier, so this was good. So we were able to deliver the $200 so her granddaughter can go one more year to Medical School. more...
